He spent the early years of his life on the banks of the Mississippi River. He worked as a printer and participated in the Civil War; he was a miner, journalist, humorist, writer, orator and lecturer of note. He wrote works of great success and worldwide fame such as The Prince and the Pauper and A Yankee in King Arthur's Court, but he is best known for his novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and its sequel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. He studied animation at the Nemo Academy in Florence and then at the Stephen Silver Drawing Academy in Los Angeles.
