Together We Grow: Tough Feelings and Tools That Help

Overview

Together We Grow is an empowering book designed to aid parents, caregivers, and educators in guiding young children through the emotional challenges brought about by trauma and toxic stress. This resource serves as a beacon of hope, offering effective coping mechanisms that promote growth and resilience in children. It acknowledges the unique nature of every child's experience and emphasizes the necessity of a nurturing environment that caters to individual needs. The guide provides in-depth strategies for understanding and addressing the often overwhelming emotions that stem from trauma, fostering a safe space for children to express their feelings. The book also equips caregivers, parents, and educators with practical techniques and activities to help children overcome challenging situations. Together We Grow is grounded in community-informed evidence research, offering tools that aid children in developing emotional resilience, thereby simplifying their process of coping with life's adversities. ""My children and I have shared various lived experiences that have caused angry, scared, and hurt feelings. Many of these experiences were rooted in Trauma from Community Violence, Domestic Violence, and Single Parenting. Post Trauma, I knew my children were deserving of healing and a healthy life. As a parent I have rarely found resources with information and tools that walk hand-in-hand to help children make sense of what they are experiencing. ""Together We Grow"" has equipped me to pause, process, practice and provide the tools I found in the pages with the young children in my life. This book will be of benefit to all parents, caregivers, providers and community members that love young children."" Esmeralda Huerta, VPP Training Manager, Communities of Practice The Health Alliance for Violence Intervention ""The characters in ""Together We Grow,"" express tough feelings so clearly. And having exercises to help address those feelings included makes it a book that is informative and healing which we don't often see in combination. Children love it.
