OverviewOut, vile jelly-filled donut! This is not your traditional Shakespearean play. After receiving input from her talented troupe of adolescent actors, the writer/director composed this collage of abridged and deranged Shakespearean classics to meet their demands. There is something in this play for everyone: romance, dueling, conspiracy, murder, fairies, marshmallows, a purple porta-potty, a popped-out eyeball, and plenty of GIRL PARTS! This collection includes a few of the bard's more obscure plays (Timon of Athens and Coriolanus) as well as his most popular (Macbeth, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Twelfth Night, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and King Lear). Queen Elizabeth the First makes an appearance, as do a superhero in undergarments and some geeky Star Wars wannabes. Three narrators guide the actors through their scenes, and there is some exciting and bloody audience participation as well. Forty-some body parts are referenced, making this comedy seriously appealing to the adolescent-minded, young and old. And somebody gets flushed away at the end! Flexible casting: 20-45 actors. Running time: 110-125 minutes. Performance rights sold separately.
