Tiptoe to Last Lake: Tales of adventure, mischief and brotherly love

Overview

Tiptoe to Last Lake is a vibrant, humorous and heartfelt account of one man's odyssey to reach all 236 named lakes of Whiteshell Provincial Park in Manitoba. Over 14 years, surpassing 2400 kilometers of challenging terrain, weather, and obstacles, Ken Friesen and his friends journeyed from one end of the park to the other, using their own physical power to achieve their goal. Basking in the glory of nature, Ken and his entourage experienced the outrageous: sleeping in snow, packs of wolves, comical paddling adventures and even a flatulent fireworks display! All the while building lifelong bonds of irreplaceable friendship. Join Ken and his friends as they canoe, hike, and bike their way through every season on the Canadian Shield, each journey inching them closer to the Last Lake. You might just find yourself itching to follow suit.

Author Information

Ken Friesen is an outdoor adventurer who has spent hundreds of days on extended trips in the wilderness, not only in Manitoba and the Whiteshell, but in the Canadian Rockies and across the central Arctic above Hudson's Bay, Baffin Island, and the Yukon. First inspired by a teacher and librarian in elementary school, Ken maintains his love of the wilderness to this day-an adventurous spirit he shares with his wife, Kris and their English Cream Retriever, Sterling.
