He has held numerous positions including president of IEEE MTT Society in 1990; the chairman of USNC/URSI Commission D from 1988 to 1990; the vice chairman of International Commission D from 1991 to 1993; and the chairman of the same Commission from 1993 to 1996. Dr. Itoh is also a Fellow of the IEEE. Bijan Houshmand joined the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology in 1994. He was a visiting assistant professor at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and the University of California, Los Angeles, from 1990 to 1994.
