Overview

In this pulse-pounding western from national bestselling authors William W. Johnstone and J.A. Johnstone, Smoke Jensen welcomes a new rancher to the valley--whose intentions are deadly, especially when his ...arrival brings a wild bunch of merciless killers in his wake. Thaddeus Bolton sees himself as a cattle king. His ambitions are as big as the land and stock he just purchased near Smoke Jensen's Sugarloaf ranch. Bolton and his family are friendly enough, although in the case of his wife Emmaline, perhaps too friendly. While her husband stakes his claim with plans to spread throughout the territory, she's set her sights on Smoke. But fending her off is the least of Smoke's worries when outlaws sweep across the valley on daring rustling raids--hitting every ranch except Bolton's. Fearing it's only a matter of time before his cattle falls prey to the rustlers, Bolton takes the law into his own hands. Forming a band of vigilantes, he tracks down the men he believes are the thieves and hangs them, despite no evidence linking them to the crimes. Then when Bolton's ranch is actually rustled, his vigilantes go on an even deadlier, merciless rampage. To stop the escalating violence, Smoke forms his own posse to bring the outlaws to justice--only to discover that Bolton's plans are sinister and downright evil. Now Smoke will have to prove Bolton's corruption...before the entire valley erupts in a blood-soaked range war. Adapted from the novel and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects and cinematic music! Performed by Mort Shelby as the Narrator, James Lewis as Smoke Jensen, Drew Kopas as Cal, Ellen Quay as Susannah, Elizabeth Jernigan as Sally, Danny Montooth as Thaddeus Bolton, Christopher McLinden as Coolidge, Melody Muze as Emmaline Bolton, and Bradley Foster Smith as Pearlie. With additional performances by Tim Carlin, Wayne LeGette, James Konicek, Michael John Casey, Richard Rohan, Christopher Williams, Andy Clemence, Chris Davenport, Terence Aselford, Eric Messner, Steve Wannall, Matthew Bassett, Rayner Gabriel, and Christopher Walker.

Author Information

William Wallace Johnstone (1938-2004), is the #1 bestselling western writer in America, the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of hundreds of books, with over fifty million copies sold. Born in southern Missouri, he was a prolific American author, mostly of Western, horror, and survivalist novels. He began writing in 1970 but had his first novel, The Devil's Kiss, published in 1979. After his death, it was announced that a carefully selected author had been chosen to carry on his legacy. J. A. Johnstone is continuing William W. Johnstone's series. James Lewis is a fiction author who gets bored rather quickly. I bounce around several different genres. Basically, I fall in love with a character, setting, or idea, and I go for it. Danny Montooth is a voice actor, narrator, and puppeteer based in Los Angeles. Best known for his work on bestsellers Crescent City (as Hunt Athalar) and The Teacher by Freida McFadden, he has performed over sixty audiobooks, and is forever excited to tell new stories. He works mostly in romance and romantasy, but loves all genres (particularly fantasy and sci-fi!). He's also worked in eLearning, animation, and industrials. He's a giant nerd, loves TTRPGs, and has a collection of over 100 board games. As a puppeteer, he's worked for Danny Elfman, Ashnikko, AJR, The Walt Disney Company, and recently starred as the Lead Puppeteer in the all-puppet horror film Abruptio. Ellen Quay is an experienced audiobook narrator and voiceover artist. When she's not in the booth, she enjoys participating in community theater, solving escape rooms, singing, and hiking.
