Michelle DiGiacomo is an author, educator, lifelong student, and private consultant. She is also a mother, a Christian, and an ally to the LGBTQIA+ community. In addition to being a registered nurse, she is a survivor of an adverse medical event that has given her extensive experiences being a patient as well. As a result, she has dedicated her career to patient safety and healthcare reform. She is a member of Exceptional Nurse, a non-profit network committed to the inclusion of more people with disabilities in the healthcare profession, as well as making herself available to mentor others. As a member of Free Mom Hugs, National Nurses United, and the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance, she has discovered outlets to express her passion for civil rights, body positivity, dignity, respect, and justice for everyone.
