Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor Information"Sue Hardesty (author/photographer): Life in rural Arizona where her mother enjoyed prospecting and her father farmed and ranched shaped Sue's life during the 1930s and 1940s. Her college degree in English after a few years of exploration led her to teaching in high school before becoming an audiovisual specialist in high schools. At this time, she developed her interest in photography, and her interest in reading and teaching literature was the background for her having published four novels, two nonfiction books, and two short stories. (Sue's first novel disappeared after problems with computers in the 1980s.) After 27 years working in education, Sue retired to the Oregon Coast with Nel. She now writes an eclectic Facebook page, the inspiration for Through the Knothole. Nel Ward (author): Growing up in rural Nebraska, Nel graduated from a small college before pursuing graduate work at the University of Kansas and Arizona State University. For 21 years, she taught English in both secondary schools and higher education before finishing that career as a high school librarian for ten years. Nel's work in professional organizations led to involvement in state and national teaching and librarian organizations, both on committees and in publishing articles. After retirement, she continued these endeavors along with editing books, writing book reviews, and posting on her political blog. Ann Hubard (photographer): Ann describes herself as a ""former juvenile delinquent"" and ""now a retired attorney."" After growing up on the beach in Virginia, she attended college in California during the 1960s civil rights movement. After traveling, she attended law school in Oregon before working at Legal Aid representing low-income people and then coordinating citizen review boards who heard cases of foster children for the state judicial department. Partnered with Taylor West for over 30 years, she married ""the love of my life"" in 2015. As ""outdoor enthusiast, political activist, vegetarian, and amateur photographer,"" Ann takes pleasure in exploring urban streets, hiking, and snowshoeing, sometimes continuing her travels throughout the world."
