Author Information

Before anything else I want to make a confession: Although I am a health care worker, and I often times work with patients who have psychiatric issues, I do not work specifically in the psychiatric field. That being said, how can you know that I know what I'm talking about in this book? Because this book is specifically written to help people who are married to psychiatric patients, and I am one who is married to a psychiatric patient. I have been through the horror of realizing that my own husband had developed mental illness. I've been through the frustration of my own ignorance, wasting time trying to find help in all the wrong places. When I finally stumbled onto the right path I learned the process of finding the best treatment to fit my husband's needs. And all along the way I learned the requirements, the treatment options, and the bumps in the road to beware of as we worked to restore my husband's mental health. I know this journey well - and it was made more difficult by the sheer fact that I didn't know where to start or how to get there. I wrote this book as a guide in hopes of sparing you those same, frustrating, difficulties.
