OverviewAngela Salerno, a registered nurse, took a leave of absence from her job and from her classes to volunteer for four weeks in Haiti following the devastating earthquake that struck in mid-January, 2010. Arriving in Port au Prince just two weeks after the quake ravaged the city, Angela worked with two non-profit organizations to share her medical expertise with the victims. Told by Angela who lived and worked among them, the stories of Haitian survivors bring a human perspective to the devastation she saw. Seventy photographs taken by Angela and fellow volunteer Zach Duncan create a vivid picture of her experiences and what it is like to volunteer in another society following a massive natural disaster. Through My Eyes shares a glimpse of post-earthquake Haiti and a compelling testament to the strength of the survivors. Deborah Salerno and her husband Mark reside in Franklin, Pennsylvania. They are the proud parents of four civic-minded daughters. An avid volunteer in her own community, Debbie was moved by her oldest daughter Angela's recent international volunteer experience. Wanting to help inform others about the plight of the Haitian people and to encourage them to donate to the Haitian relief effort, she has shared Angie's story.
