Author Information

This is the story of my life, the journey into and out of priesthood, the transitions into and out of the corporate life and the path that led me to find my way back to a new spirituality. At times people saw so much more in me than I was capable of seeing in myself. Perhaps there was something about me that shone from within. A stirring that represented a yet undiscovered, unimaginable new life born out of a place from which God was waiting to release me, deep in the core of my being, to become exactly who I was created to be. Perhaps you have experienced a similar awakening. Sometimes it comes out of nowhere, a sudden realization. Sometimes it's a gradual process, discovering and growing into a new or expanded belief system, a new sense of self. As I think about this concept, I am reminded of a saying from St. Catherine of Siena who happens to be the patron saint of the parish church in which I grew up. She said, Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire. Perhaps that idea was inbred of self. Have you suddenly, unexpectedly understood a new relevance of casual observations or pointed comments identifying qualities, characteristics or a purpose buried deep inside your core? Sometimes personal development catches one off guard, illuminating and invigorating the soul, turning your world upside down, inside out or simply opening doors of opportunity and discovery to a place you never thought you would care to travel. I invite you to contemplate the beautiful complexities of your own personal journey, to be open to the possibilities, the purpose, and the incredible person God created-and perhaps (quite likely) has not fully revealed to you. We are all on that journey-whether we recognize it yet or not-we're constantly in the process of becoming.
