Overview

This book is a compendium of blog posts and cartoons written during the heady days of the 2011 World Cup. As history will testify, Team India won the cup covering themselves with glory for only the second time under the astute leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. How did this book come about? Yours truly began blogging with a vengeance sometime in the beginning of 2010. At first, it was about almost anything---anything I could opine on. But later, when the ideas started to dry up, it became obvious that writing had to be about something I cared for, something I believed in, something I loved. That's when I began writing about sports, especially cricket, more specifically the Indian cricket team. 2011 was the year of the World Cup in India. To the nation's delight and mine, Team India clinched the trophy for only the second time ever. I followed their path to glory not just on television but also through my online meanderings on the cup and the happenings surrounding it. This book is simply a collection of those jottings. The format is chronological beginning in February 2011 and ending in the second week of April 2011. I hope you can relive the joy of those months through my insubstantial attempts to capture the essence of those days. If you are one of those who simply abhor the word 'cricket', then this book is definitely not for you. If you, like me, have a 'Love-Hate' relationship with the Indian cricket team, then this may be for you depending on your disposition at the current time However, if like me, you cannot peel your eyes away from any tripe about Indian cricketers and their achievements, this book may just be the icing on your confetti. Warning: If you're expecting something spectacular, breathtaking, moving, forget it. This is not for you. You won't find a Booker candidate in this volume . If, however, you have time and money to spend, you can peruse my manuscript at your leisure.
