Overview

High school students combine critical thinking skills with essay writing. Students will use prompts taken from African American History to practice five essay types: Narrative Descriptive Expository Persuasive Compare and Contrast. Every section begins with a brief review of the essay type. The essays start with simple prompts and increase in difficulty as the book progresses.Sample Descriptive Prompt: Katherine Johnson excelled at math at a young age.
