Overview

Pesky kids, frisky staff and crazy antics... There's No Place Like Summer Camp! There's No Place Like Summer Camp is a true story that spills the beans on what it is really like to volunteer with Camp America. Leaving behind his quiet life in England and travelling 6,000 miles across the globe to Atlanta, Georgia, Andrew began a trip that would take him off the beaten track and lead to an experience like no other. Little did he know that the three months spent surrounded by strangers, kids and campfires would turn out to be the best summer ever. Follow Andrew's adventures as he settles into his role as the Outdoor Living Specialist at Camp Honeystone. Experience the highs and lows of volunteering and see what it's really like to work at a Jewish summer camp. From learning unknown Jewish chants, chasing off hungry black bears and dodging lightning strikes this memoir is filled with hair-raising adventures and hilarious encounters. Take a step into the camp bubble and see why for so many the memories last a lifetime. Not only does There's No Place Like Summer Camp lift the lid on camp life but it also tells a tale of transformation, friendship and coming of age. Author Information

Andrew Waterhouse is a Camp America volunteer who's been nostalgic about it ever since. He regularly annoys his girlfriend by telling her about how situations today are relatable to the times he volunteered at summer camp. He has turned his passion for talking about camp into a podcast, telling his stories and tips, as well as interviewing people who also hold a special place in their hearts for summer camp. Andrew, at the time a Computer Science graduate, bucks the stereotype of a non-religious geek by volunteering abroad as an Outdoor Living Specialist at a Jewish summer camp. Since his time at camp, Andrew has returned to the world of work but often reminisces about travelling. Andrew can be reached on Twitter @androow09 or via the author's website, andrewwaterhouse.com
