Overview

"There's A Chicken In My Kitchen! Poppy is a sweet, fluffy silkie chicken. She found a home with the best grandma ever. Grandma Ava had lots of backyard garden pets that she fed daily to keep them happy while she enjoyed watching them play in her yard. One day all of the garden pets become very concerned when they hear Grandma Ava calling, ""Come out, come out wherever you are, Poppy,"" from inside the house. All of the garden pets watch quietly from the patio to see just who this ""Poppy"" is. Who is Poppy?"

Author Information

"Susan is a retired certified nursing assistant and medication administration aide. She has worked in skilled nursing facilities for the past 16 years. Her joy was seeing the residents happy and well cared for. Susan's motto is ""Laughter is the best medicine."" One day she received a phone call from her young granddaughter, asking, ""Grandma, can you help me take care of my little chick? I have to go to school and I don't want to leave her alone."" Grandma Susan thought for a while, because she had never taken care of a chicken before, and then she answered, ""Of course I will."" This is how my story begins. I thought of how little children would love to hear a cute story about a little chick that gets lost in Grandma Ava's house. She could hear the children answering ""NOOOOOO"" when Poppy was not under the bed where Grandma was looking. It makes your heart feel good when you hear children laughing and getting excited while reading a story."
