Author Information

A Certified Child Life Specialist in the hospital for 15 years, Laura has built her career around helping children cope with their health conditions or the health conditions of their loved ones. While Laura has done a lot of work directly with children, she has found that giving caretakers the words to explain and start the conversations builds a foundation for coping and understanding throughout the family unit. Laura has a unique range of knowledge and experience. Laura has experience working with children with a large variety of health problems, has an in-depth understanding of the hospital system, and is very familiar with children's common questions and stressors. On top of all of this, Laura is a mom of three children herself. She has a real understanding of how busy life can be. She knows that we all want to support our children through their challenges, but that time flies and the best intentions sometimes don't get fulfilled. She hopes that the books help develop a vocabulary and common knowledge within the family unit, that leads to conversations in the car or at the dinner table. As founder of Words Worth Repeating, Laura hopes that she can encourage families to talk about hard things and get through them together.
