OverviewTheoretical Presence is a work of just over a hundred poems written with a breadth of subject matter and stylistic approach. In the volume Meet Me in Nutt: A Literary Traversal of the Gila Region of New Mexico (Sunstone Press), Brittenham explored the role of historical memory in framing diverse perspectives of the land that concern the play of memory and experience on aspects of landscape and culture. The insights in this volume are more immediate to the poet in disclosing the ways the land transforms us and the way we respond to a landscape in reshaping it through language. The mind's visualization of its animating themes also defines interiors in a particular context though fanciful or revelatory insights. Brittenham is an important voice in articulating insights of heart and mind where meaning is found, the gentle and sometimes disturbing touch of the aesthetic in our lives.
