OverviewFrom its beginning in 1502 up to the mid-17th century the University of Wittenberg (Leucorea) was a major influence in promoting the Reformation throughout Europe. A large group of prominent societal elites matriculated at Wittenberg. These volumes amass all the graduates of the Faculty of Theology between 1502 and 1648 and list their respective writings. Accordingly, the study allows for a detailed historical reconstruction of the educated elites of this institution, in regards to both the quantity and quality of their scholarship. Additionally, further insight is gained into the broader dissemination of Wittenberg's theology of the Reformation within continental Europe.
