Then I Am Strong: Moving From My Mother's Daughter To God's Child

Overview

Then I Am Strong: Moving From My Mother's Daughter to God's Child is an insightful, humorous, and courageous look at the life of one girl growing up in a profoundly volatile family-an alcoholic mother, codependent father and over-conscientious sister-as they live in the shadow of the bottle. Using stories from her family and her father's letters to her mother, the author relates the family's journey into profound chaos. As a young adult, Corrigan is sexually assaulted at gunpoint by a stranger who intends to leave her for dead. Miraculously, she is saved, but the man is never apprehended. Broken and deeply troubled, she discovers God and His healing grace, which allows her to forgive her parents, the rapist-and most of all, herself. Her message of God's grace and goodness will encourage others who are facing personal challenges in their lives.
