The Writer of Sea Thrift House

Overview

HER LIE. HIS SECRET. A SUMMER THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING. After splitting from her actor boyfriend Jake, deaf sign-language teacher Cassie Carmichael escapes to Sea Thrift House, a weather-beaten estate on Cornwall's windswept North Atlantic coast. She expects nothing more than a quiet summer placement teaching five-year-old Flynn Fallon how to sign before he begins school. Simple, predictable, safe. She doesn't expect Gabriel Fallon. Flynn's uncle and guardian is a reclusive author with guarded eyes and a presence she can't ignore. He also has a beautiful fiancée and a baby on the way, every reason for Cassie to keep her distance. Yet the attraction between them is immediate and unsettling, and the small lie Cassie tells to protect herself soon feels far more dangerous than the truth. Then Cassie discovers a hidden photograph, one that hints at a darker story beneath the family's polished surface. Deceit and duplicity linger in the halls of Sea Thrift House, tangled with the painful bond Gabriel shares with his nephew and the confusing pull he feels toward Cassie. She came for a peaceful summer. Instead, she finds a secret that could change everything, and a man she may not have the strength to resist. What you'll find inside: Employer/Employee Forbidden attraction Reclusive hero Family secrets Hidden photograph mystery Forced proximity Slow-burn tension Protector vibes Atmospheric Cornwall setting Romantic suspense with heart

Author Information

Kate Lamb is the writing alter-ego of author Ali Simpson, who lives in Torquay on the beautiful English Riviera, on the south coast of Devon in England.Ali started her career as an author by researching and writing speeches for top civil servants in the UK as well as spending five years editing a glossy life-style charity magazine with a readership of 35,000 across Devon. She is also a published non-fiction writer, mostly focusing on people and places, historical figures and the natural world. When needs demands, Ali has even been known to compile a mean crossword! Her first published novel was a romance set in Africa but, using her long career in policing and love of history as her inspiration, she has since turned to writing murder mysteries and crime novels set in the Art-Deco inspired world of 1930s Torquay. However, Ali has never lost her connection to romance fiction and has decided to return once more to writing compelling love stories under the pen name Kate Lamb. She is excited to be sharing with Varus Publishing her first novel in this genre, combining both of her writing loves - romance and mystery.Set on the wild north coast of Cornwall in the West Country of England, The Writer of Sea Thrift House follows the turbulent relationship between deaf sign language tutor Cassie Carmichael and our eponymous hero, Gabriel Fallon, while they navigate a will they/won't they relationship through deceit, lies and duplicity.Ali loves writing about believable characters. Even though they are handsome, successful and decent, her heroes are often troubled and her heroines, while they may be beautiful, accomplished and smart, show very human emotions like self-doubt and worry.Ali hopes in the future to be able to write further novels using the fantastic natural landscape of Cornwall and the characters who populate Sea Thrift House - so watch this space! When not writing, Ali and her husband David love to travel, having done so extensively over the years. They have a very special place in their hearts for the cities of Europe, Africa, Australia and South Africa. If she wants time away from creativity, Ali also loves walking for fitness, gardening, history and antiquities, art, padel tennis and logic puzzles - the harder the better!
