This book is a never before told true story of the world's most famous Bank -BCCI. The author describes BCCI's remarkable rise, as it grew to become a highly respected organization, eventually having over 400 branches in 78 different countries. But he focuses mainly on his own role at BCCI, a career that spanned many years and locales, from Pakistan to London, England, to Caraccas, Venezuela, etc. He writes of his faith in the bank and his loyalty to it. He also exposes some risky business practices BCCI adopted, which eventually led to huge losses and the bank's closing in 1991. He shows how a person working in such an environment could be charged with crimes he not only did not commit but had no knowledge of. In today's precarious world, none of us know what we're going to wake up to. Detention presents a compelling example of how one's life can be turned upside down from one day to the next.
