The World Needs Medjugorje

Overview

June, 1981. The Virgin Mary appears to six children in Croatia. A beautiful little village set high in the rock covered mountains of Croatia in an area of the world that was once a part of the former Yugoslavia, ruled under the iron fist of Marshall Tito, a Socialist Dictator from 1943 to 1991. Croatia is in Southeastern Europe across the Adriatic Sea from Italy. Contained within the boundaries of Croatia, is the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina, where in the 1990's was fought a brutal and bloody civil war. The people living in this rugged land above the sparkling waters are for the most part either Croatian or Serbian, each of whom is fierce in their religious beliefs and ethnic culture. Follow the author, Rita Silvestri, as she heeds her call and journeys to this village to witness the apparitions of the Holy Mother of God, while experiencing the miracles and the challenges of Medjugorje today. Meet the pilgrims with whom she has traveled. Listen to the visionaries and hear firsthand the words of Our Lady. Walk with Rita among the people of this land where the Queen of Peace reigns and where love presides in the hearts of those who have come in response to her invitation. Become one with those of all faiths who travel from all over the world to hear the messages that Mary brings from her Son to the place where heaven and earth are joined as one. Rita Silvestri is married to husband, Nate and lives in St. George, UT. Rita was raised a Catholic in Detroit, Michigan. She earned her BA through a program offered by the Chrysler Institute of Technology and later attended the University of Detroit to study writing. She raised three sons, Mark, Matt and Chris, did community service, theatre work and ran a county-wide political campaign. Later she enjoyed careers in insurance, investments and home construction. In 1994 the Silvestri's moved to Malaysia and she volunteered to teach impoverished children at a learning center established by Sister Colette Silvam of the Society of the Infant Jesus. Sister Colette was much like Mother Teresa of Calcutta and working with her became he highlight of Rita's spiritual life. The World Needs Medjugorje is her first book and the culmination of a life long dream.
