Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationBrinkley Goranson started her college education as a middle-aged widow, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Virginia Wesleyan College. From there, it was Harvard Divinity School with an exit festooned with Harvard's honors, including Magna Cum Laude. A Lutheran since her marriage, she was ordained as one of the first women in that denomination. The Bishop of the Virginia Synod, her home, shamefully turned his back on her because of her gender. No Virginia church would give her a call and a stressed parish in depressed Pennsylvania coal country that no man wanted was where she went. On retiring, that church had been built to a strong state and everyone was sad to have her go. Back in her Virginia Beach home, she accepted a series of preaching duties. Until recently, Pastor Brinkley preached every few weeks. Over time, she became much in demand for her sermons. Some of them are collected here.
