Overview

This book presents the maternal history of the author's family for a period of approximately 400 years. It is not represented to be a scholarly work by a professional genealogist but rather as the work of a novice to discover his historical family roots. The search for the history of the author's family includes a more limited study of several related family groups to show how and when the family lines intersected. Attention at times is turned aside to include interesting facts discovered concerning certain individuals. The book is also intended to honor and perpetuate the memory of the author's mother and her ancestors.

Author Information

Charles E. (Ed) Isom was born in Franklin County, Alabama in 1941 but grew up in Birmingham. He attended the public schools of that city, received a BA degree from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas and then a JD Degree in 1967 from Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham. After four years of active duty with the U.S. Navy he entered law practice in Anniston, Alabama. In 1995 he retired from the Navy Reserve as a Commander in the Navy's JAG Corps, and in 2019 he retired from the practice of law. Retirement enabled him to devote time to genealogical research, a matter of long interest, which resulted in the publication of this book. The author is married to Alison Lynne (Adams) Isom, a native of Birmingham, and they have three sons, Alan, Brett and Drew.
