The Women of Ink: 16 International Tattoo Artists

Overview

***Australian input*** Become acquainted with 16 of the world's most talented and highly influential female tattoo artists through interviews and more than 600 photographs of their best work. Discover insights into their inspiration, artistic motifs, tattooing methods, and opinions on the state of tattoo culture today and the importance of social media and attending conventions worldwide. In a rare break from their hard work, these women reflect on their journeys toward achieving their dreams of becoming artists, and draw you into their universe of beauty and acceptance. Hailing from Australia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Minnesota, New York, Russia, Scotland, Slovakia, and beyond, these dedicated professionals aren't bothered by the fact that men still outnumber women in today's international tattoo industry. In fact, they embrace the imbalance and focus their energies instead on perfecting their techniques and connecting with their loyal customers. AUTHOR: Akos Banfalvi is a well-known Hungarian journalist and principal contributor of magazines like Hungarian Tattoo Magazine and Tattoo Galeria. Everything began with his love for rock music. Akos started his career as a music journalist during his teens and soon became principal contributor for Hungarian RockinforM Magazine. He worked for this magazine for more than 15 years, and during this period, wrote six successful books about bands like Marilyn Manson, Limp Bizkit, Junkies, Hungarian melodic rock band Hooligans, etc. In addition to these he worked for years as a host and editor for different rock/metal radio and television programs. Later his interest turned more and more towards tattoos, and now he is living for this kind of art. He started working for Hungarian Tattoo Magazine in the Summer of 2007. Since then he has contributed interviews every month with tattooed bands, tattoo photographers, tattoo artists, tattooed models, and other artists from all around the world for two different Hungarian tattoo magazines. Akos also works occasionally for the English tattoo magazine Total Tattoo and US digital tattoo magazine InkSpired. 673 colour photographs
