OverviewThis is a book that children and adults alike will love. It is the story of the witches of Hambone, a small village in the valley of the Ebhoman River, which flows down from the mountains. Harriet, the local witch is having a difficult time with the villagers. She asks the parents of Tanya if she can teach her the craft of the witches. When she is not at school, they agree to let Harriet teach Tanya, causing hostility against Tanya and her parents. However, they overcome the problems and turn the village back to prosperity. Tanya and her friend Patricia have their birthdays on different days, two days apart. They hold a joint birthday party on the day in between their actual birthdays. The day turns out to be a pivotal point in the story, when a vengeful witch reincarnates herself and tries to destroy the village and surrounding area. The story continues in seven separate parts as the years progress.
