Nora’s family, including her paternal grandparents, came to Australia in 1962 where they eventually settled in the southeastern suburbs of Sydney. Nora Jones is a retired Personal Development/Health/Physical Education (PD/H/PE) teacher who taught for over 30 years, mostly in Sydney high schools. Nora holds a Diploma of Teaching: Secondary Education and a Bachelor of Education from Kuring-gai College of Advanced Education, now known as University of Technology: Sydney. She also studied English Literature and English Method at Charles Sturt University. Throughout her career, Nora taught at singlesex schools, selective and comprehensive high schools. Toward the end of her career, Nora switched to primary teaching and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Originally from Sydney, Nora now lives in Gymea Bay, New South Wales, with her husband Rodney and their two rescue dogs, Boo and April. Rod and Nora both adore dogs and run a rescue group: Dog Rescue Mudgee (DRM) and have been very successful in rehoming needy dogs from nearby pounds and other dire situations. In 2009, Nora was included in the Who’s Who of Australian Women for her services to Children’s Literature.
