GEORGE RITZER is Distinguished University Professor Emeritus at the University of Maryland, where he was named a Distinguished-Scholar Teacher and received the American Sociological Association’s Distinguished Contribution to Teaching Award. His authored works include Sociology: A Multiple Paradigm Science, The McDonaldization of Society: Into the Digital Age, and Enchanting a Disenchanted World. CHRIS ROJEK is Professor of Sociology at City University London. He has published on leisure, culture, celebrity, lifestyle gurus, nationalism, and popular music. His books include Lifestyle Gurus: Constructing Authority and Influence Online and Presumed Intimacy: Parasocial Interaction in Media, Society, and Celebrity Culture. J. MICHAEL RYAN is Professor-Researcher at Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. He has held academic positions at leading universities across five continents. He is co-author of The McDonaldization of Society, 11th Edition, Introduction to Sociology, 6th Edition, and COVID-19: Social Inequalities and Human Possibilities. Dr. Ryan is editor and co-editor of multiple volumes, including Core Concepts in Sociology and The Wiley Blackwell Encyclopedia of Social Theory.
