The Whisper of The Sea: My Life of Sex, Crime, Loss and Love

Overview

A Fictional Memoir where Thriller, Romance and Comedy collide. Who can you trust when you fear for your life? A rambling house by the sea on the south coast of England. Ann manages a gentlemen's retreat where her uncle Richard's wealthy clients play sex games with escorts. After failed romances with two boyfriends who both have dragons for mothers, she still dreams of finding a man who shares her love of solitude and seagulls. But just when she meets Simon, her perfect lover, things go horribly wrong at the retreat. A blackmailer who targets a client is murdered. Ann knows who the killer is, and he knows she knows. She flees to Australia in fear of her life. The note arrives, menacing, creepy, totally evil: I know where you are ... Another house by the sea in the south west of Australia. Ann now has a new life, a new name, never free from the fear of discovery, still yearning for her lost love, still dreaming of revenge on the murderer. Until the day the police come knocking. Or are they assassins? Why are they here? Sex, Murder, Secrets, and a past you can never outrun.

Reviews

This book is entertaining, hilarious at times and refreshingly different. The plot is full of twists and surprises. The book is mostly comedy, but there are some dark themes. Some scenes are sad and some thought-provoking, although it is never depressing. This is the memoir of the heroine Ann, who starts life on the lower fringe of the British upper class. When her father is jailed for fraud, she lives with her uncle who runs a seaside sex retreat for wealthy men. Ann finds a lover, but she needs to keep her past a secret from him and his mother. But a client of her uncle is blackmailed, and the blackmailer is murdered. Ann knows who the murderer is, so she flees England, leaving her lover behind, and moves to a seaside town on the west coast of Australia, where she rebuilds her life, still dreaming of revenge, and never losing hope of returning to her lover.
