She is known for her work with the Ramsar Convention; she is currently the vice-chair of the convention's scientific and technical review panel and was formerly the regional coordinator for Asia/Oceania at the Ramsar Secretariat. She was also co-chair of a synthesis report on Ecosystems and human well-being: Wetlands and water for the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment.
