The Wendigo Hunter

Overview

Deep in the forests surrounding Lake Winnipesaukee, something ancient stalks its prey. Once it was a man. Now a Wendigo. A demon of hunger and cold, the creature prowls the wilderness, driven by an insatiable craving for human flesh. But the monster in the woods is only part of the nightmare. Robert Radnor, known throughout Boston as ""The Phenomenon"" for exposing fraudulent mediums, spirit-talkers, and occult charlatans, has come to the Big Lake seeking a quiet summer with his wife Jo and her sister Isobel. Their destination is Miramar Hall, the sprawling lakeside estate of Radnor's former Civil War commander. Yet the moment they arrive, Rob senses something deeply wrong. The family that rules Miramar Hall hides secrets older than the house itself. Strange happenings plague the surrounding forest. And whispers of a terrible creature begin to surface-something hunting in the dark woods beyond the lake. As Radnor digs deeper into the mystery, the lines between superstition and reality begin to blur. Corruption, greed, and long-buried sins converge in a deadly conspiracy that may awaken forces far more dangerous than any ghost story. And somewhere in the forest, the Wendigo waits. A chilling blend of Gothic suspense, supernatural horror, and historical mystery, The Wendigo Hunter will appeal to fans of classic tales such as The Hound of the Baskervilles, The Lady of the Shroud, and Frankenstein. Author Information

Kathleen Greer is a U.S. army brat, and proud of it. Born in Kyoto, Japan, she spent much of her early childhood living overseas. Particularly, she has fond memories of both Munich and Augsburg, Germany. When her father was not deployed elsewhere, he often read scary fairy tales to Kathy and her older sisters, and believes this is where she developed a love for the supernatural and horror. ""Some of the original Brothers Grimm folk and fairy tales are indeed, quite grim!"" she says. ""Little wonder my favorite holiday has always been Halloween.""After graduating Summa Cum Laude from New England College in Henniker, NH, Kathleen headed off with a full scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School. Only to turn it down once she learned she would be required to operate on perfectly healthy beagles who were bred just to be destroyed. She eventually went to work as an investigative reporter at the Concord Monitor, a New Hampshire daily, writing under the pen name Kathy Greer. She continued in the newspaper business as a reporter and editor for the NH Guardian News, and eventually as the publisher of UnRavel the Gavel, Inc. an antiques and collectibles newspaper in New England. ""Throughout all that time, I kept writing stories, and eventually several books blending romance and horror or the macabre. I tried several genres, but always returned to the dark side. It was also difficult finding publishers in those days, because if you wrote ""romance"" you couldn't combine it with horror or fantasy. Editors wanted sort of boiler plate writers, and that I am not.""Kathleen now lives in a small, rural town in South Carolina, along with her husband Bob, and two crazy rescue Boxer pups, Rachel and Joey, along with a nutty rescue Great Pyrenees mix named Kimba.
