The Welcome Place: An honest and enchantingly well-observed poetry collection

Overview

"""I’ve had an amazing idea! / Original, brand new and fool-proof / Brilliant, illusory, single-solutionary / Unlike things previous / This is ingenious / Inspired, indeed revolutionary"" Thoughtful and brilliantly funny, Valerie Darnley’s original collection becomes a self-portrait with the warmth and character of a diary in verse. An honest and enchantingly well-observed debut."

Author Information

Valerie Darnley was born in Shropshire during WWII. She has lived and studied across England, returning finally to her home county of Kent with her husband. A staunch humanitarian, Valerie has always been fascinated by the natural world, its flora and fauna. She has travelled widely across Europe and Australia with her family, and her interests include music and choral singing, reading, and the arts. Throughout her long career in education, she has also been a committed volunteer, now also a client, in support of charities for the blind. The Welcome Place is her first collection of poetry.
