The Weight of Death

Overview

As the sun rises into the morning sky, pillars of dark smoke drift in the air above burning wagons and bales of cotton. Buzzards circle over the dead and injured soldiers of the 122nd Texas Mounted Rifles and the Teamsters they were charged with protecting. When a courageous Texan sets out to track down the perpetrators, he crosses paths with a resolute woman and her army of mercenaries, far from their home in Tennessee. Amid the death and destruction of war, they cross from Texas to Missouri in search of the cruel man with the blood of many on his hands, Jack Benton. Don't miss the exciting stories of trial and hardship that come together in this heart-gripping saga as America's bloodiest war reaches its conclusion and silence begins to settle over its battlefields.

Author Information

Bill Andres received his degree in business at the University of Tennessee in 1977. His education was interrupted when he was blinded in a car accident during his third year. Strengthened by his faith and encouraged by his family, he returned to his college studies and, several years later, he graduated from the Northern Illinois University School of Law. Over the next several years, he explored opportunities in law and business before finally seeking out his true calling, a career in teaching. For twenty-three years, Bill Andres remained in the classroom of the same middle school in California. After retirement from the classroom, he began writing his first historical novel, A Greater Vengeance. He has now completed five more stories within this extended saga: Benton's Thunder, The Weight of Death, Phantom Wind, Death's Fury, and Matlock Rides. He lives in Loudon, Tennessee with his wife Sally.
