Her academic work aims at challenging her audience with the concept that a woman acts as a monitor of the 'ego' in a society and exposes the subconscious attitude that people have towards a woman for that role. Her work does not fight for the status of men and women as equals but as two different figures with different important roles in the society that have to be equally respected and recognized. Mlia Sheriff does not restrict her work to her academic theory, she employs art, music and writing to disseminate information and influence her followers out of poverty through hard work. She also vies to curb western migration by boosting appeal in local culture. She holds a BA in Fine Art and studied under Massa Lemu, Peter Goff, and Richard Mwale. She worked for a local bank for 4 years before resigning to pursue her art dream. She owns Studio4humanity an illustration and animation social enterprise. She is a Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Fellow. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
