Overview

Most English girls lose their virginity by the age of 16. Is that a good thing? Is female virginity still praised as it was in earlier times? What's the point of it anyhow? Does it matter? The author reviews the attitudes to female virginity, discussing the behaviour of both the ancient and the modern. He suggests that the present-day approach to an early, if not casual, surrender by woman of her virginity is open to abuse and that modern woman - and indeed society - might profit by a more restrained approach to underage sex. Amongst the matters considered by the author are religious attitudes to virginity and the increasingly popular debate concerning infibulations and excisions of the clitoris. The ravages of feminist fire have burnt out the virginity of British young girls. It is time for it to be reborn, phoenix-like.

Author Information

The author is a retired solicitor who lives in Hertfordshire with his first (and only) wife. He has three children and six grandchildren, which might just be enough. This is not his first work. He has also had published in 1995 'The Comfort of Sin: Prostitutes and Prostitution in the 90's' (ISBN 1-898823-10-3) where he argues for the full decriminalisation of prostitution and the establishment of licensed, supervised and medically controlled brothels. He maintains that such a solution, if it doesn't eliminate, would noticeably reduce the amount of violence against women and children and the presence of the sexual excrement on our streets and in our society. Richard Goodall also had published in 2000 'The Divorce Dilemma' (ISBN 1-898823-45-6), a study of marital incompatibility. He has also written, published by Amazon (ISBN 9781484933596) 'The English and Sex or The Shadow of Hypocrisy', where he reviews English sexual trends from the 17th Century to the first decade of the third millennium, citing the most recent statistical data.
