Overview

The Vetiver System relies on a unique tropical plant, vetiver grass. that has been proven and used in some 100 countries for soil and water conservation, slope stabilization, land rehabilitation, pollution control, water quality improvement, disaster mitigation and many other environmental applications that can mitigate the impact of global warming and climate change. The world and its people, particularly in the poorer countries located in tropical and semi tropical countries, face major environmental and health problems due to the contamination of water and land. The Vetiver System provides one solution to deal with these problems. Dr. Paul Truong - Director, The Vetiver Network International for Asia and the Pacific Region, and Director of Veticon Consulting of Australia. Over the last 18 years he has conducted extensive R&D and application of the Vetiver System for environmental protection purposes. He has received several awards and prizes for his work on the Vetiver System, including awards from the World Bank and the King of Thailand. Dr. Tran Tan Van -- Coordinator of the Vietnam Vetiver Network (VNVN). Also as Vice-Director of the Vietnam Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources he is responsible for recommendations for natural disaster mitigation in Vietnam. Since 2000 he has spearheaded the widespread promotion and adoption of the Vetiver System in many parts of Vietnam. He received the prestigious prize of Vetiver Champion from the Vetiver Network. Ir. Elise Pinners - Associate Director of the Vetiver Network International, worked with Vetiver System in NW Cameroon in late nineties. As a Dutch advisor to VNVN she contributed to the development and promotion of the Vetiver System in Vietnam and internationally, with organizational advice, fund raising support, and by introducing VS to the world-renowned Dutch coastal engineers. She is currently living in East Africa.
