Overview

A young girl faces day-to-day struggles with her OCD monster. Some days she is victorious, unbothered, and confident. Other days, it feels as if the monster is the one leading the way. It's a one-on-one battle for control--or is it? With the support of those around her listening, encouraging, and reassuring, she gains the strength to continue facing her monster. The Very Best Me is a helpful tool for those with obsessive compulsive disorder. It sheds light on the type of support that would be helpful for those battling their own little--and sometimes big--OCD monsters.

Author Information

Marin Canaday grew up with OCD from early childhood, although she was not formally diagnosed with it until her adult years. Her little monster did its best to distract her as a child, but she found ways to ignore its voice through studying and athletics. In spite of her OCD, she graduated at the top of her class in both high school and college. She also excelled in volleyball, winning a national championship with Fresno Pacific University her senior year. Playing volleyball brought much needed relief from OCD because it allowed her to turn her mind off and simply play. Today, Marin writes in her free time. She is the author of My Little Monster, another children's book describing her fight against her own OCD monster. Her monster still whispers to her, and at times begins to shout. These days, Marin finds relief in gardening, crafting, reading, and writing.
