The colorful layout, photographs, and vivid diagrams will appeal to students. The set includes limited text which is ideal for reluctant readers. . . .sure to become a series that will be hard to keep on middle school shelves!-- Library Media Connection These titles are among the best of their type to come along in some time. The authors have done well in their use of proper terms without dumbing down the content. Readers should be able to gain a thorough understanding of special-operations units and the training required to become a member of one. With all of the technical jargon, it is sometimes jarring when the text uses simple vocabulary, such as ...they made a plan.... Each page is loaded with photos of training, equipment, and weapons; various fonts; fact boxes in assorted colors; and maps. Unfamiliar terms are printed in red and defined in a box at the bottom of the page and in a glossary. Measurements are given in both standard and metric. Just like the few individuals who try to become a member of a special-operations unit and succeed, this series passes the tests.-- School Library Journal

In addition to his published children's books, Craig Sodaro has more than two hundred published plays. They are presented all over the world. Craig and his wife Sue have lived all over the American West. They spent many years in Wyoming, where Craig taught middle school. They also enjoyed many very snowy winters in the Colorado mountains. Now they live in Phoenix. Craig and Sue have four grown daughters. Their only pets are the lizards that live in their backyard. Craig loves to travel and one day soon hopes to sail across the Atlantic on an ocean liner.
