Reviews

"""This book is something a bit different. An astonishing story about an incredible team whose achievements wouldn't be repeated by any Liverpool team for another 54 years. Their back to back titles are even more remarkable coming so soon after the war."" -- Phil Thompson * back to back championship winner, former captain and assistant manager of Liverpool Football Club * ""A forensically researched and expertly written book on one of the last untapped eras in Liverpool history. The ultimate tribute to the heroic deeds of an unbelievable team that should never be forgotten."" -- Mark Platt * LFCTV * ""A gem of a book that delves deep into a part of the club's history that hasn't been written about before. The authors have a knack of bringing to life the lives of the players in the 1920s and what they faced during very uncertain times."" -- Darren O'Connor * Liverpool Connection Podcast and ATX Reds Press * ""Author Goulding and football historian Smith have collaborated on a fine, detailed retelling of those times, packed with terrific photographs, many of them colourised."" * The Irish News * ""Their stories are eyeopening – from the western front to the flu pandemic. They introduce you to their teammates, including the legendary, sweary, Elisha Scott. Of all the great Liverpool sides, this is the least well-known. I’d suggest f****** off the summer transfer speculation and giving this book a read. That’d be good for the soul on so many levels."" -- Tony Evans * Anfield Index * ""Almost exactly a century ago, on Saturday 21 April 1923, a Liverpool side managed by Matt McQueen clinched the top-flight title for the second successive season, with a 1-1 draw against Huddersfield Town at Anfield. Today the club is marking the anniversary of that great team’s achievements with a half-time tribute, and there’ll be a special banner on the Kop. The story is brilliantly chronicled in the 2021 book The Untouchables: Anfield’s Band of Brothers, by Jeff Gouding and Kieran Smith."" * Liverpool FC Match Programme *"
