The Unified Modelling Language is the official OMG standard for object-oriented modelling languages. This volume contains papers presented during the First GROOM Workshop on the Unified Modelling Language (UML). GROOM (Grundlagen objektorientierter Modellierung) is a working group of the Gesellschaft fur Informatik (GI), the German society of Computer Science. The papers are presented in three chapters: UML versus other approaches; business process modelling and applications; and technical aspects and concepts.
