Author Information

Jean-Louis Chretien is a philosopher, theologian, and poet who teaches ancient philosophy at the University of Paris -IV Sorbonne. His thinking draws on insights from ancient philosophy, Judeo-Christian spirituality, and contemporary European philosophy in developing a philosophy of religion able to respect the integrity of the tradition while accommodating the shifts that mark more recent developments. The resultant body of work has attracted praise and close attention from authors as diverse as Jean-Luc Marion, Michel Henry, and Jacques Derrida. The present volume includes an afterword by the author, in which he retraces his lengthy itinerary and identifies a number of unifying themes. Jeffrey Bloechl is Associate Professor of Philosophy at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusettes.
