Overview

In a new season, veteran youth baseball umpire, Jim McBane, is constantly clashing with a volatile coach because of a controversial decision made during last season's championship game. On the field, he must make split-second decisions that determine the outcome of games. Every game has its peculiar situations and staying on top with the correct call is often difficult. That coach with the grudge is making it hard to stay focused and fair. Can Jim shrug off the personal attacks and continue to do the job he loves honestly? Off the field, Jim's avid interest in sports memorabilia has him investigating a strange antique bat that he discovers in the local museum. Where did it come from? How did it end up in Harrisonville? Did it belong to Babe Ruth? Will a slick memorabilia dealer get his hands on it? Painstaking research and just a little bit of luck help Jim in his quest for answers.
