OverviewThere are about a billion cars on the world's roads, 99% of which are driven by internal combustion engines (ICE). But for useful operation, internal combustion engines use only a third of the energy of the burned fuel. The rest is lost in the heat and friction of the mechanisms and in the resistance to the movement of the car. This book aims to generalize the experience of manufacturers and enterprises servicing hybrid vehicles. The introduction provides an overview of the existing hybrid car market, discusses in detail the general structure and technical characteristics of hybrid cars, the features and operation of the internal combustion engine together with an inverter and a high-voltage battery, and shows a special design of the transmission and braking system. Labor protection measures during maintenance and repair are indicated. In working on the manuscript, the author used open printed materials from manufacturers, dealers and service stations, as well as the results of their own design work and research on the operation of hybrid cars. The advantages of hybrid cars indicated by manufacturers are controversial, often not objective. This reduces their popularity and prevents them from attracting mass consumers.
