Author InformationBarbe Awalt, an author, publisher, and photographer, is passionate about New Mexico, food, and ballooning. She, and her husband, Paul Rhetts, won the Mother Teresa Award from the St. Bernadette's Institute for Sacred Art and the Millie Santillanes Education Award from the New Mexico Hispanic Preservation League, for their work promoting Hispanic New Mexican art. They also received the Joe Leaphorn Award for support of writers from the Hillerman Mystery Writers Conference. They have published some of the best books about New Mexico.
