Overview

This book is an account of twelve metaphorical Royal Palaces, each of which corresponds to a stage in alchemy. It was created in 1734 by the prolific alchemical author, Hermann Fictuld (1700-1777), considered to be a pseudonym of a mason with hermetic and Rosicrucian interests. It contextualises alchemical ideas within a Biblical language, drawing particularly upon the Book of Genesis, and has some wonderful symbolism and allegorical ideas. Fictuld is very creative, and in this work does not need to rest on the writings of others.
