The Translator's Concise Lexicon of the Textus Receptus

Overview

There are many millions of Christians who consider the KJV to be the Word of God and the only truly accurate translation in English, and who believe the Greek Textus Receptus to be the preserved Word of God in Greek. This lexicon has been compiled for them, and there are several purposes behind it. First, it is written for college students who are studying in schools that believe the things just mentioned. Second, it is written for Bible translators who believe the same things and are translating in foreign languages. Third, it is written for all who want to learn Greek grammar with definitions of words that are based on the actual use of the words in the New Testament, rather than based on root words or component parts of words or the use of words in the so-called Greek Septuagint. Finally, it is written for any Christian who wants an additional dictionary of New Testament words based on the Greek words. This lexicon contains over 5000 Greek words. To the Author's knowledge it contains every word in the Greek Received Text. It includes: 1) Practical definitions drawn from how the words are used, 2) Many Bible references where the words are used, 3) Principal parts of the Greek verbs, and 4) Many Greek idioms that show what the words mean when used in combination with other words..

Author Information

School teacher, who visited his home, he began to read the Bible. The Word of God had its effect. He came under strong conviction of his sins. A friend invited him to a nearby church during revival meetings, where he heard the gospel preached. God showed him that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, paid for his sins when he died on the cross and, afterward, rose physically from the dead. He believed it with all his heart and, as a result, he was born spiritually into the family of God and saved from condemnation for his sins. Since then there have been major transformations to his life. God called him to preach and enabled a backward shy individual suffering from an inferiority complex to stand before crowds and confidently proclaim the Word of God. God gave him a business background as a CPA and God put him in several ministry positions. He has served as a Bible Institute teacher and Dean, a youth pastor, assistant pastor, and a senior pastor. He holds a Doctor of Theology degree from Covington Theological Seminary. Currently Steve Combs is Assistant Director and a Global Translation Advisor for Global Bible Translators/Bearing Precious Seed Global, www.bpsglobal.com, a ministry of Plantation Baptist Church in Plantation, Florida. Global Bible Translators starts and assists Bible translation projects around the world. Their goal is to start as many foreign Bible translation projects as possible, all of them based on the King James Bible. God has opened many doors and enabled them to start and assist translation projects in South America, Africa, and Asia in over sixteen languages. Steve Combs also works with The King James Bible Research Counsel (www.kjbrc.org) in their work of defending the King James Bible. He is married and has four married children.
