Reviews

The deterioration of transatlantic and transpacific economic relations has created serious problems over the global economy. The existing weaknesses of the institutions that regulate the global economy could not influence the economic decisions of the great powers, nor could they shape the tendencies of the global economic giants. The trade wars that broke out between the USA and the EU, and then between the USA and China, had serious, cooperation disrupting effects on the global economy.. The work edited by Altug Gunar focuses on a rather remarkable question of bringing together Turkey's leading academics together. The study tries to discuss the issue in various dimensions by focusing on populism, trade wars, and issues on the global economy. -- Burak Darici, Bandirma Onyedi Eylul University This work, edited by Altug Gunar, takes the picture of the global economy under the shadow of populism and protectionism measures, which affected the whole world after the 2008 crisis and reached its peak with the election of Donald Trump in the USA in 2016. The different and well-chosen topics in the book elaborate the global economy in various dimensions. This age of conflict experienced by the economic giants that keep the Transatlantic and Transpacific economic relations alive will undoubtedly have huge effects on the global economy. For this reason, Gunar's work stands out as a key reference source. -- Alpaslan Serel, Bandirma Onyedi Eylul UEniversitesi The study, which deals with Trade War and Populism as a central issue, distinguishes significantly from other studies in this period when global protectionism has risen, and global economic governance has deteriorated. This period, in which the economies between the East and the West have deteriorated, and the Transatlantic relations and Transpacific relations have been seriously damaged, seems to create important tensions and opportunities that will determine the direction of the global economy in the future. -- Suleyman Ozdemir, Bandirma Onyedi Eylul University
