OverviewThis is a record of Theban Tomb 409: that of Simut called Kyky, the Chief Counter of Cattle of Amun during the reign of Ramesses II. Simut was a devotee of the goddess Mut, and he records his personal devotion and the donation of all his property to the goddess in two religious texts. The decoration of the tomb has variety of detail and artistic presentation - its funerary and religious scenes and texts provide particular interest. The publication is based on new photographs made by the Centre of Documentation and a thorough recollation of the texts. Dr Negm describes the modern history of the tomb from its discovery by Muhamed Abdel-Qadar Muhamed in 1959.
