Nick Szczepanik was a Times staff sports writer for a decade and is now a freelance journalist whose byline has appeared in every national daily and Sunday newspaper. He was a member of the Times' reporting team at Wimbledon for a number of years but modesty forbids him from including any of his own contributions here..
