Reviews

The People Demand is a compelling read. It's tense, bleak, disturbing and gripping. The characters are very well realised and although the descriptions are minimal they are so well done that you feel you know and can see them. The locations are powerfully described with just the right attention to detail, and the plot propels the reader through at a brisk pace. This is partly due to the writing style, which is lean and terse, admirably suited to the subject matter. The People Demand won't make you feel comfortable but it will make you think. And it will draw you into a world which might seem sadly familiar, and one in which many people must live. The New Review of Books. This is an enjoyable book that manages to pack a lot into a short read and reflects the difficult times of the Arab Spring. The story is fast paced and details the ideologies of young people wanting change in their country and the actions they are prepared to take to protest against a corrupt regime and self-interested individuals. The regional political narrative helps the reader to understand the reasons behind the Arab Spring and the challenges required to achieve democratic change. Chill Reviewer This book portrayed the very volatile lives of people in power in Government and the overthrowing of a corrupt regime by a handful of people. An interesting story well told. Chill Reviewer I thoroughly enjoyed this book - excellent story! The ending is very poignant; I believe revolutions are like that - things don't work out as well as expected despite all the effort and hope. The story is well told, particularly considering the complexity of the characters. I look forward to reading more by this author. Chill Reviewer
